Founded in Osceola, Florida by black belt Jorge Oliveira, Squad Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was built on one simple belief that martial arts can transform every life it touches. From complete beginners to world-class competitors, everyone has a home on our mats.

Our Story

BORN FROM
PASSION

Squad Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was born from one man's unbreakable love for the art and his determination to share it with the world. Jorge Oliveira, a black belt born in São Paulo, Brazil, began his martial arts journey as a child training karate. After time away from training, he rediscovered his true calling through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, training alongside Ricardo and Eduardo Arrivabene.

Jorge built a formidable competitive career in Brazil, earning multiple São Paulo state championship titles. In 2011, a serious accident severely damaged his spine, requiring surgery and months of rehabilitation a trial that would have ended most journeys. Not Jorge's. He returned to competition and won. Again.

Awarded his black belt by Danny Abu of the Macaco Gold Team in 2013, Jorge eventually made his way to Osceola, Florida where he founded Squad BJJ with a mission to build something bigger than a gym: a true community.

"I didn't just want to build a gym. I wanted to build a second home a place where anyone can walk through the door, feel welcome, and become something greater than they were before."
